I had two like this last night. Note the medial fascia (barely discenable) passes through the discal spot and then near to the post medial towards the dorsum, rather than bisecting the sub- and post-medial fasciae (as in Cleora alienaria).
This is the first time I have seen this partial melanic (grey) form in this species. I initially thought it might have been Ascotis selenaria, but it's too small and with broader wings.

Very interesting - melanic forms emerging - shades of Kettlewell??
Is it Cleora repulsaria?
I found some other photo with some little differences in brindle and color.

This is Cleora fraterna.
The key features are the h/w discal spot placed on the medial fascia and on the f/w the dorsal (lower) half of the medial fascia is close to the post-medial fascia, rather than equidistant between the sub-medial and post-medial fasciae.
